Possibly a good idea for a story but something could have been better. It's decent enough that I'll try out Book 2 but it's a 2.5 star book. They should be a bit sexy, refined, and devious. The narrator doesn't bring across the demons or Lucifer. I wasn't pulled in nor do I have any deep feelings for the charcters. 😙 Overall, I think this was a decent novel. I'm not usually into the mushy stuff but that hit me in the soft spot.

One of my favorite quotes, 'You will not leave me to walk this earth alone'. Though I'm not one for dragged out sexual tension for half a series, I do think a little time should be spent building it up. 😒 The love situation happens rather quickly. He is in the Latin mob, lives in Rio, but isn't described as latino. oh and he wears a coat like Cas too 😁 Chase is a coworker and Dante's lover. It gave me that SUPERNATURAL feeling of Cas learning to be on earth. It's the part that made the book interesting. This portion of the book where Dante has to deal will Japh adjusting to being in earth and working with a human was what this book one should have focused on. Why does Japh come across like the Terminator dressed in all black and spouting stuff like PUT THAT DOWN.

Seasoned fantasy readers will be happy we don't have every little thing explained. just throws you head first into her world. I do like that the author doesn't give us a long backstory. but he just doesn't come across as sexy or as conniving as he should be. Lucifer is constantly described as beautiful. The is one 10 minute sigment where she is sparring with a coworker and they curse 10 times in 5 mintues.🤤 Then you have the other big character, the Prince of Hell. The author uses an awful lot of curse words. The magical community is out in the open and have been accepted as citizens. There isn't any mention of the government structure but one can assume it's different from what we are use to. but pizza is still around and coffee has been enhanced.*smiles again* Also in this future, the mobs/mafia are back to being a powerforce. Unfortunately, in this future soap operas and reality TV still exist. There are high tech gadgets being used and religion has taken a turn into something new.

The novel is set on earth but during some unspecified time in the future. This novel is centered around Dante Valentine who is a necromancer whom also moonlights as a Bounty Hunter.
